Summer doesn’t last forever.

By now you have thrown down a hot dog or two and kicked backed on some white sandy beach with your family and friends. By now you have watched the boys of Summer play in your favorite park while spending a fortune on a coke and a bag of peanuts. By now you have showed off your new grill and served some delicious food while the kids catch lightning bugs and play in the rain. It’s the season that seems to drag on, the dog days of Summer they call it. Yet, the heat is only temporary. The sweltering humidity that once caused you to sweat without exercise, will soon turn into a cool, light breeze. The green leaves will give way to more colorful objects, and the sun that stays hanging all day will start going down before you come home from work. All the while, your favorite team is preparing for another grind of fall camp. The locker rooms will be filled with sweat and tape. The practice fields will have hitting, yelling, and screaming.  The offense will go against the defense. Two a days will begin to weed out haves and the haves not’s. Early morning workouts will lead to afternoon runs. The film room will be filled seat to seat. Then it begins. Tickets will be sold. Parking lots will be packed. Stadiums will be loud. The teams will listen to their coaches speech. The players will be energized and ready for battle. They will  come out of the tunnel lead by their respective traditional theme. The fans will go wild. The captains will meet at midfield. The coin will be flipped. Hands will shake. The ball will be set. The kicker will look to his left and look to his right….and then kick the football as hard as the good Lord allows it. Then my friends, we all can grab a seat and watch, yell, scream, and cheer on our favorite team. You know why? Because Summer doesn’t last forever and that’s ok.

T-minus 50 days 😉
